Six-Year-Old Falls Down Elevator Shaft in Bronx (NY)

A six-year-old is in critical condition with skull fractures after falling down an elevator shaft in the Bronx Thursday.

Firefighters responded to a report of a trauma at a building on Grand Concourse shortly after noon. When they arrived they learned that a child who lived on the first floor apparently used the stairs to reach the buildings roof and then went into the elevator room on top of the building.

The child then fell down the elevator shaft, landing on top of the elevator., Fox 5 reports.

The Fire department extricated the child from the top of the elevator.
