Six Dead in Indiana House Fire

Six siblings dead in Switzerland County fire

VEVAY, Indiana — Six people were killed in a house fire Saturday in rural Switzerland County, as reported by WTHR.

Firefighters responded to a house fire at approximately 3:00 a.m. Saturday on Lewis Drive in Vevay.

The house was reported to be fully involved when firefighters arrived.

Once the fire was extinguished, the bodies of six people were found inside.

The Switzerland County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims, all siblings.

Paige A. M. Ridener, age 25

James S. Ridener, age 15

Jordan T. Ridener, age 13

Joshua A. Ridener, age 12

Emilee A. Ridener, age 11

Elizabeth G. Ridener, age 10

Joseph Buchheit, a boyfriend of Paige Ridener, was at the home when the fire started as escaped without injury.

Buchheit tried to re-enter the house but was unable to due to heavy smoke and fire.

The Indiana Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
