A firefighter with the Cavour Volunteer Fire Department died Monday while battling a fire at a commercial building in Huron.
Huron firefighters were called to a fire in the Hurd Alignment & Service building at 20260 Old Highway 14 W.
Several agencies responded to provide mutual aid, including Cavour. The fire burned for several hours in the 100-degree heat.
NorthWestern Energy shut down power to the circuit that powers the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron due to the fire.
