Union launches fundraiser to help family

SAN FRANCISCO — CBS San Francisco reports that a firefighter injured while fighting a fire in the SOMA district is still in intensive care.

Firefighter Matthew Vann fell and hit his head after being struck by a hoseline runover by a Muni bus on November 2.

Firefighter Vann was briefly unconscious and not breathing.

San Francisco Firefighters Local 798 posted to Twitter that they were starting to collect donations for Vann’s family.

Vann, a six-year member of the department, is assigned to Station 1 and has an eight-year-old son.
