SACRAMENTO, California – ABC10 reports that Sacramento firefighters responded to an old Sacramento Regional Transit maintenance and storage building in the Erickson Industrial Park just before 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

A large column of smoke from could be seen for miles in all directions.

A second-alarm was called, and firefighters took a defensive position to protect surrounding businesses.

Officials told ABC10 the building had been unused and empty. The roof was unstable and at risk of collapsing before the fire started, so they had no plans of sending firefighters inside.
