Rubber Roofing Material Thwarts Firefighters in Oklahoma City (OK) Apartment/Hotel Fire

An apartment/hotel complex under construction in Oklahoma City caught fire Tuesday night and burned into Wednesday morning because rubber roofing materials stubbornly burned despite 2 million gallons of water being applied to the fire.

Firefighters had to back out of the building as the fire dragged on as parts of the structure began collapsing.

The fire, in the 1100 block of Northwest 63rd Street, started around 7 p.m. No one was injured in the fire.
