While battling a fire at an apartment building in Glendale, two firefighters fell from the second floor to the basement.

GLENDALE, California — Firefighters in Glendale responded to an apartment fire where several occupants were rescued, and a mayday was called for two injured firefighters.

CBS Los Angeles reports that firefighters responded to the apartment building in the 100 block of Carr Drive at approximately 2:50 p.m.

Chief Silvio Lanzas said firefighters saw fire coming from the basement and the first floor as well as residents trapped on the second floor.

Firefighters rescued six occupants, including a small child seen in a video, over ground ladders.

During fireground operations two firefighters fell into the basement and a mayday was called.

Both firefighters were rescued and transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
