WILMINGTON, North Carolina — WWAY reports that the Wilmington Fire Department rescued a person during an apartment fire on Saturday evening.

Firefighters responded to a fire at Canterbury Woods Apartments on Cameron Court at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and rescued one occupant that was later transported to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
