Peterborough Scanner Feed

Two people were trapped up on a roof after escaping through a second floor window, the occupants were stuck due to a fire inside of their apartment.

Peterborough firefighters quickly arrived on scene at a row of townhouses at the intersection of McDonnell and Bethune Streets and entered the structure, smoke could be scene coming from the second floor as the trapped occupants crawled out through a window as firefighters raised a ladder up to them.

They remained on the roof until the fire was extinguished and smoke was cleared from the structure.

Police officers assisted evacuating occupants from attached apartments, paramedics were on scene and assessed multiple occupant who were inside the building.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
