Report: TX Ambulances Rigged to Avoid Emissions Standards

The EPA is investigating a complaint that Waller County EMS Ambulances have been modified to avoid complying with emissions standards.

The county-wide EMS director told KPRC the alterations to the ambulances were made to address issues of reliability of the county’s ambulances.

The new director of the Waller-Harris EMS district, however, took issue with the decision and took steps to have the emissions systems restored, and reported the issue to the EPA. He says both the deletion of the equipment and restoration are expensive repairs that could have been avoided with proper maintenance.
