Queens Apartment Fire, Person Trapped

Fire on the first floor of a four-story 120×120 H Type multiple dwelling in Long Island City, Queens. 

4/24/18 New York City Fire Department units responded to 11-14 46th Avenue in Long Island City to reports of a smoke odor around 10:30pm on Tuesday night. 

On arrival units had fire blowing out a first floor window with reports of a someone still being inside and a 10-75 (Working Fire Signal) was transmitted. An All Hands signal was transmitted shortly after with a 10-70 also being transmitted after units had a dry hydrant. 

Members were able to quickly locate and remove a male from the fire apartment along with others from the floor above and fire escapes. 

After locating a positive water source, water was quickly placed on the fire and quickly extinguished. 

The fire was placed Under Control in less ahan an hour later. 

A total of seven 10-45s (Fire Related Injury) were reported with an additional three refusing medical care. 

The fire was deemed suspicious by FDNY personnel and the cause of the fire is under investigation. (7) 10-45s (Fire Related Injury): 1x 10-45 Code 2 – Life Threatening Injury 6x 10-45s Code 4 – Walking / Non Life Threatening Injury
