Poughkeepsie (NY) Firefighter Saves Man at Disney World

A Poughkeepsie fire lieutenant vacationing at Disney World in Florida saved a man who had an apparent heart attack.

Lt. Paul Bucher was at a restaurant in Disney World when a man stopped breathing and his pulse stopped.

Bucher’s experience kicked in and he went to the man to do a precordial thump and began chest compressions while the Reedy Creek Fire Department was called.

When firefighters responded with an AED, the man’s pulse had been restored and he was breathing on his own, City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department NY Local 596 reported on Facebook.

He was able to talk to paramedics as they transported him to the hospital.
