LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock Fire Rescue said that Firefighter/Paramedic Matt Dawson is doing “better than expected” after being struck while working at the scene of an MVA on Saturday.

Dawson was critically injured when a vehicle collided with an earlier crash.

Lubbock Firefighter, Police Officer Killed in Crash

In that collision fire department Lieutenant David Hill and Officer Nicholas Reyna of the Lubbock Police Department were killed.

KCBD reports that doctors and reducing Firefighter Dawson’s sedatives and determining to operate or not on his legs on Monday.

Dawson’s MRI results were better than expected and he has had a positive response to neurological checks. He has also been able to respond to his wife.
