Chief accused of stealing over $30,000

MONACA, Pennsylvania — A Pennsylvania fire chief is facing felony charges, according to KDKA, for stealing from his fire department.
Fire Chief Michael Ribar is accused of stealing over $30,000 from Monaca’s No.5 Volunteer Fire Department Station 58.
The Monaca police chief told KDKA that two members from the department reported missing money in the Volunteer Fire Department’s Relief Association bank account, that Ribar was treasurer for.
Ribar is accused of going to an ATM hundreds of times and withdrawing a total of $33,000 since July 2018.
Investigators say Ribar admitted to stealing the money and said he needed it for rent, utilities, and gas for his car.
The investigation involves the Attorney General’s office.
The office will conduct a new audit of the fire department.
