DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – One person was killed after the car they were driving collided with a Daytona Beach fire engine on Saturday, according to FOX 35 Orlando.
Authorities say that the car struck the fire engine as the fire engine was turning out of a parking lot, causing the fire engine to overturn.
All of the firefighters on Engine 4 were able to get out of the overturned fire engine and provide aid to the injured civilian driver.
The driver was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The five firefighters on the fire engine suffered minor injuries and are expected to be okay.
Speed is believed to be a factor.
Investigators believe the car was going approximately 80 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young said the incident will be investigated as a traffic homicide.
