Ohio Firefighter Killed in Explosion in Firehouse

Highland County, Ohio (WLWT) – A firefighter EMT for the Paint Creek Joint Fire Department has died after an accident at the station at 12500 U.S. 50, approximately 10 miles east of Hillsboro. The accident happened around 2:16 p.m. Sunday.

Fire fighter Joe Patterson was working with compressed air cylinders when he was critically injured, officials said.

Patterson was taken by helicopter to Kettering Medical Center, where he later died.
