NY Firefighter Dies of Heart Attack at Structure Fire; 32-Year Veteran Was Former Chief

A Fairville Volunteer Fire Department firefighter died at the scene of a house fire Sunday night.

Firefighters responded to the house fire on Maple Ridge Road at 7 p.m. in Arcadia

Preliminary reports say the firefighters had just arrived on scene when Firefighter Daniel De Wolf jumped from the truck and began pulling hose. As he was doing so, he experienced a cardiac event.

Wayne County EMS personnel on scene immediately began resuscitation efforts and transported De Wolf to the hospital, but he could not be revived.

DeWolf served for 32 years with the department, including a stint as chief, the department announced via Facebook.
