WHITE LAKE, North Carolina — A White Lake firefighter fell to her death on Tuesday morning while working as a roofer, according to WWAY and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office reports that Mildred Gray Williams, an employee of Young’s Construction, was working on replacing the roof of the Bladen County Water Rescue building when she fell approximately 15 feet to her death.

Bladen County EMS, along with the sheriff’s office and the White Lake Police Department, responded to the call.

Williams, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bladen County Medical Examiner.

Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker told WWAY that because the death is work related it will be reported to the North Carolina Department of Labor for an investigation to be done.
