Firefighters responded to a Brooklyn fire Monday morning that took an unexpected turn when a hoseline burst, adding pressure to the first due company’s job.
The fire on the fifth floor of a six-story building on Berry Street in Williamsburg broke out at about 4:30 a.m. Already a challenge because of victims needing extrication, the burst hoseline added to the urgency.
Uniformed Firefighters Association reported that the victims were removed from the building and firefighters pressed on to extinguish the fire in about an hour.
“This is yet another example of Bravery in the line of duty under the most dire and extreme circumstances.”
Four people suffered injuries in the fire; two were seriously hurt.
Early this morning, a 2nd alarm fire took place on Berry street, in the Southside of Williamsburg Brooklyn where members from E221/L104, E211/L119, and the 35 battalion responded. This fire had trapped civilians in a 6 story pic.twitter.com/Q9ATNGN3PL
