NJ Firefighter Dies Following Training Drill

A South Jersey volunteer firefighter has died after falling ill following a training evolution, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

Firefighter John Leming of Cape May Point (NJ) Volunteer Fire Company #1 attended a drill on April 15, 2019, at the fire station at approximately 7:00 p.m. At the conclusion of the drill, he returned home. During the night, he became ill. His wife called 911 and EMS responded. During transport to a local hospital, Leming went into cardiac arrest and life saving measures were not successful. Leming was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
