New Orleans (LA) Steamboat Natchez Erupts in Flames

New Orleans firefighters extinguished a fire on the Natchez steamboat Tuesday night.

The fire was confined to the ship’s engine room, where it started sometime before 8 p.m.

The Natchez, one of the only remaining riverboats from their heyday, is a fixture on the New Orleans waterfront. It offers dining, cruises and serves as a party and wedding venue.

Damage was estimated at $300,000. No one was injured in the fire.
