INDIANOLA, Nebraska — A Nebraska family, fire department, and community will gather this weekend to mourn the loss of a volunteer firefighter.

KLKN-TV reports that Firefighter Donny Lepper collapsed hours after fighting a grass fire on Saturday morning near Indianola.

Lepper, a 23-year veteran of the fire department, was known by everyone in the community.

A funeral has been scheduled for Saturday, February 29, at 10:30 a.m. More details are provided by the Nebraska Serious Injury and Line of Duty Death Response Team.
