First responders were called to Olathe East High School Friday morning for a shooting in the school.
Early reports from police said at least two victims were shot in the incident in an administrative office at the school at 127th Street and Black Bob Road. The victims were an administrator and a school resource officer. Police said no students were shot.
The shooting was reported at 10:41 a.m. and multiple police, fire and EMS units converged on the school to lock down the scene and treat the injured.

Description
This class will provide the basic principles of the Rescue Task Force and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care to better respond to high-threat active assailant incidents. Current evolution of these events shows the need for responders to continue to adapt strategy and tactics to safely and efficiently mitigate them. The evidence-based content will be consistent with current best practices and guidelines from the Department of Homeland Security; National Fire Protection Association 3000, Standard for an Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response (ASHER) Program; and the Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care. Students will be provided the tools, skills, and information for continued training at their own agencies specific to RTF implementation and will leave with instructional materials, knowledge of evidence-based medicine specific to high-threat incidents, and a framework for program design.
Methodology
The lead instructor and his cadre provide varying backgrounds within fire, police, and EMS that bring relevance and credibility to a recognized curriculum to be delivered. This course begins with classroom presentation that satisfies training requirements and cognitive objectives listed. This also allows demonstration of psychomotor objectives to be completed prior to hands on evolution’s. Students will be split into 4 smaller groups in specific areas were they will be able continued practice learned skills allowing all participants to gain proficiency in the basic life support skills taught allowing confidence to demonstrate and teach the skills to their home department. The psychomotor component includes the use of the latest training aids and high-fidelity simulation to provide a realistic and relevant training environment. This training outline has been successfully utilized to train numerous responders to perform elements of the Rescue Task Force.
