BALTIMORE — Three children, six adults, and two Baltimore police officers were injured in an early morning fire on Sunday that had a dispatcher sending fire companies to the wrong address according to the Baltimore Sun.
In audio posted to Vocaroo you can hear police officers arriving at 5118 Plainfield Avenue and requesting the fire department for a house fire.
A few seconds later you can hear a dispatcher repeating the address, as well as the officer reporting that there are people trapped upstairs and fire is on the first floor.
He then quickly advises that there are children reported to be inside and that he cannot make entry.
Other officers arrive and report that the front of the house
is fully involved and that there are people in the windows on the side.
Two minutes into the audio recording the fire department is dispatched to the
5000 Sinclair Lane, near Moravia Road, a little over a mile away.
Before the recording ends, police officers notice fire apparatus going the wrong way and call for dispatchers to redirect the fire companies.
Three boys, ages 2, 5, and 9, as well as six adults are all listed in stable condition.
Two police officer suffered smoke inhalation, were transported to a hospital for treatment and later released.
CBS Baltimore said that a babysitter staying in the house at the time of the fire had dropped the children out a window.
Baltimore City Fire Chief Roman Clark says there will be an investigation into why the fire companies were sent to the wrong address.
