Multiple-Alarm Fire Destroys at Least Nine Homes in Trenton

TRENTON, N.J. (WTXF) – A major fire on a very small street started overnight. Now, hours later, it was upgraded to six alarms, still burning out of control, and keeps spreading and destroying.

The latest as of 6:30am is that nine homes have been destroyed, three actually collapsed and three cars are also destroyed.

This is happening on Weinberg Place. The fire started at about 3am.

FOX 29’s Jennifer Joyce reports crews got a slow start fighting it because live wires were down and they couldn’t safely get close. That helped the fire gain momentum. PSE&G cut power from its grid to the whole neighborhood.

It’s believed everyone who was evacuated got out safely. However, one woman with asthma was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Trenton Water Works is increasing the water pressure, and the fight continues.
