MS Firefighter Killed Responding to Rollover Accident

Philip Allan, a longtime firefighter in the Simpson and Covington County areas was killed while he was responding to a car accident.

Allan was active with the Magee, Seminary and Southwest Covington Volunteer Fire Departments, WDAM reports.

Allan was hit by a vehicle after he stopped to help the victims of a rollover accident on Highway 49 that he happened upon. He was walking across the northbound lanes of U.S. 49 when he was struck by a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox that was going north on U.S. 49.

Allan was a firefighter for about 25 years.

“It’s truly a devastating loss,” Collins Fire Chief John Pope told WDAM, “Philip was the kind of firefighter you were proud to serve alongside.”
