Montgomery County (MD) Man Destroys $1 Million House Trying to Beat Snake Infestation

A fire destroyed a home in Montgomery County when the homeowner tried to clear out a snake infestation using smoke generated by smoldering coals.

The coals in the basement ignited the fire, causing $1 million worth of damage. Pete Piringer of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue provided this video of scenes from the fire.

He notes that thankfully no one was injured in the fire, and it’s not clear if the snakes were successfully eliminated.
