Missouri Firefighters Rescue Several People from Burning Apartment

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri — KFVS12 reports that Cape Girardeau firefighters rescued several people from a burning apartment house on Saturday.

Firefighters responded to a fire and report of people trapped inside on William Street at approximately 8:00 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from the second floor and people leaning out a window.

Two people were rescued over ladders.  Others were found inside still asleep.

No one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is reported to be an unattended candle.
