Off-duty firefighter killed in propane tank explosion

FLORA, Mississippi — Two Mississippi fire departments are in mourning over the death of a firefighter this week.

The Mississippi Clarion Ledger reports that Rodney Herndon was killed on Tuesday when a propane tank he was filling exploded.

Herndon was a firefighter in Cleary and Florence and an instructor at the Florence High School Medical Science Academy.
