MILLERVILLE, Minnesota — The small community of Millerville is spending Christmas mourning the loss of two brothers, volunteer firefighters, in a farm accident that occurred on Saturday.

FOX 9 reports that deputies received a call for two people unresponsive inside a grain silo.

47-year old Curt Francis Boesl and his 11-year old son were working at the top of the silo when they were overcome by fumes.

Another Boesl son saw what happened, called 911, and then called his uncle, 49-year old Steven Timothy Boesl.

Steven climbed down into the silo to help the others.

Both Curt and Steven were overcome by the fumes.

Firefighters arrived and removed all three and began CPR. Steven was declared dead at the scene. Curt died later at the hospital.

Alex is being treated at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

Curt and Steve were volunteer firefighters with the Millerville Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years.

Fire Chief Rodney Roers said that the near 30 members who make up the department had responded to the Boesl farm.

A memorial to the brothers sits out front of the fire department.
