SHEPHERD, Michigan – Firefighters rescued a farmer trapped inside a grain bin in Isabella County on Wednesday, according to MLive.com.
The farmer had been inside the bin to remove clumps of bridged corn.
When he freed the corn, the auger pulled him and the board he was on down into the center of the bin.
Firefighters found the farmer buried up to his neck.
Mount Pleasant Public Safety firefighters and their Technical Rescue Group responded to the scene, bringing a ladder tower to serve as an anchor point above the bin.
Firefighters also brought flat bread crates from a local deli for rescuers to lower into the bin and walk on.
Firefighters put a four-sided rescue box around the farmer then removed corn from the box until they could extract the farmer through the bin’s top side.
