Firefighter stricken while fighting fire

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — A Manchester firefighter was injured while fighting a fire on South Beech Street on Monday morning.
Boston 25 reports that firefighters responded to the fire shortly after 10:30 a.m.
WMUR reports that a mayday occurred during the fire and one firefighter was rushed to a local hospital.
The Manchester Fire Chief told WCVB that the 52-year-old firefighter went into cardiac arrest, but doctors have not confirmed that.
The department said the firefighter was found unresponsive inside the building by additional firefighters. He was removed from the building and immediate CPR and advanced lifesaving measures were administered by fire department personnel.
The firefighter is in stable condition and his name is not being released at this time.
Streets around the incident have been closed and people were told to avoid the area.
In a Twitter post the Manchester Fire Department confirmed that a firefighter was injured at the South Street fire and is being treated at Elliot Hospital.
There was no report on the extent or details of the firefighter’s injury.
