Maryland Apartment Fire with People Trapped

Firefighters from Anne Arundel County Fire Department and BWI Fire Rescue responded to the 400 block of Glen Mar Rd. for a reported apartment fire.

Anne Arundel County Fire Alarm began receiving multiple calls reporting an apartment fire in Glen Mar Apartments, the first party caller advised entrapment and possible jumpers from the second floor.

First arriving firefighters found a three story type three construction apartment building with heavy fire and smoke showing.

Firefighters immediately laddered the building and put the stick (ladder truck) to the balconies then began rescuing the individuals trapped.

A total of ten (10) occupants were rescued from the building by ladder.
Command requested the Working Incident and Fire Task Force.

The fire was placed under control in approximately a hour.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Eleven (11) apartments were damaged
Ten (10) rescues were made via ladder
Five (5) occupants were transported
One (1) person refused medical attention
