Lawrence Firefighter Patrick Sweeney’s heart sank on Monday when he found his car was missing with his gear inside.
Sweeney’s black Dodge Charger Hellcat wasn’t parked where he left it when he went outside to get in it at 5:30 a.m.
His last hope was that it had been towed. But no such luck. It was stolen.
Inside the trunk was his leather helmet, a gift from his uncle when he graduated the fire academy, his grandfather’s dog tag, and prayer card from when his grandfather passed, he told CBS Boston.
Now fire departments around New England are sharing the news about the stolen gear via social media in hopes that someone will turn the gear in to a police of firehouse so it can be returned.
