Los Angeles (CA) Teenage Fire Cadet Saves 79-Year-Old Man

Los Angeles Firefighter Cadet Leo Kaufman is being honored for saving the life of 79-year-old Dennis Platt.

One year ago, Kaufman witnessed a car accident in which Platt was severely injured.

The young man, just 17 at the time, immediately put his training to use and began performing CPR on Platt while help arrived.

After a lengthy rehabilitation, Platt was able to join the ceremony to honor Kaufman. Platt’s daughter Lacey praised Kaufman for keeping oxygen flowing to her father’s brain so that he can recover physically, but also lost no brain capacity.

“You will forever be a hero,” she said.
