The Lodi Fire Department is raising money to equip its personnel with bulletproof vests for use when responding to events that pose shooting risks.
The gear costs about $2,000 per set and the department wants to raise enough to pay for 20 ballistic vests and related gear.
That would cover all firefighters and EMTs potentially responding to a call.
