New engine for Lealman Fire District

PierceMfg – Take a walk around Lealman Fire District’s Quantum PUC Pumper with Division Chief Seven Wunderle. To increase safety, the fold down air steps prevent injury to firefighters getting in and out of the apparatus giving a nice low step to the ground. To house ballistic gear, a cab compartment was added to make it easier for people to access in the cab when responding to a call.
The PUC pump gives the rig a shorter wheelbase. This is important to the community as the roads are getting smaller and harder to navigate. To make EMS calls simpler, there is one centralized location for all equipment related to those responding. The oil dry hopper holds 250lbs of absorbent and discharges into a single bucket, rather than 4-5 buckets, saving compartment space.
Moving to the rear of the vehicle, the fold down compartment doorstep gives the rig a larger platform to step up on. To ease access to the top of the truck, the department added a fold out, pull down ladder. Slide out shelves inside compartments are ergonomically safe for firefighters.
