Lansing (MI) Firefighter Wins $1 Million in Racist Work Environment Lawsuit

A jury awarded Firefighter Michael Lynn $1 million in a lawsuit accusing the department of maintaining a racist work environment.

Friday’s verdict came after a week-long trial of Lynn’s claims that he was subjected to racist harassment, and the department did not take his complaints seriously, WLNS reports.

The city said it is disappointed in the verdict and will review its options.

Lynn also has a separate wrongful termination claim pending against the department.
