LAFD Captain Dies of Complications from COVID-19

Captain Roque is the second in the department to die from the virus

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Fire Department has announced the death of one of its firefighters due to complications from the coronavirus.

In a Facebook post the department shared that Captain George Roque died on Saturday at a local hospital.

Captain Roque was a 22-year veteran of the department and was assigned to Fire Station 97 in the Laurel Canyon/Mulholland area.

He was 57 years old and is survived by his wife and four children.

Roque is the second member of the department to die due to complications from COVID-19. Firefighter/Paramedic Jose Perez died in July 2020.
