Two young girls escaped from a burning home early Saturday morning after their father used fireworks to set fire to the structure in a standoff with police.
Uniontown Police responded to the Lake Township home around 1:30 a.m. after a man identified as 45-year-old Jason Tyo became engaged in a dispute with his girlfriend that escalated into a standoff.
The girlfriend fled the home. As police negotiated with Tyo he began lighting off fireworks, WDTN reports.
Tyo’s two daughters, ages 7 and 8, were able to escape the fire. Tyo perished in the flames.
