Kentucky Firefighter Dies after Sustaining Work-Related Injury

BURLINGTON, Kentucky — The Burlington Fire Department has announced the death of one of its firefighters, according to Cincinnati.com.

In a press release and Facebook post the department said that Sergeant Andy Kuchar had died at home after sustaining a work-related injury.

Sergeant Kuchar had injured his elbow while on-duty approximately four weeks ago.

Kuchar underwent surgery for the injury and died at home on Thursday.

There is no official nature and cause of death reported at this time.

Boone County Coroner Missy Rittinger told Cincinnati.com that an autopsy had been performed but the cause and nature of death will not be determined until after the investigation is concluded.

Kuchar served 13 years with the Burlington Fire Department, beginning as a volunteer firefighter.
