IN Law Would Keep Firefighters’ Addresses Private

Indiana lawmakers are weighing a bill that would make details of a firefighter’s home address private and not subject to public disclosure.

The law is in response to an attack on an Evansville firefighter in 2021, WEHT reports.

He was attacked while on a medical call and was afraid of being attacked again. He tried to have his personal information removed from public records, but was told it violated state law.

A legislative committee has approved the bill and it now goes to debate in the full house of representatives.
