How Do You Catch A Baby Dropped from a Burning Building? This D.C. Firefighter Makes it Sound Easy

D.C. Fire & EMS responded to an apartment fire in the 700 block of Alabama Ave. SE on Sunday at about 10 p.m.

When they arrived, firefighters saw thick smoke and a father on a window sill with his two-year-old child.

Firefighter Kenny McKiney approached the building and urged the man to drop the toddler. After making the grab, firefighters were able to bring two adults and another child down from the second floor apartment using a ladder.

The rescue was the second of the day for the department. Earlier, Probationary Firefighters Kojo Saunders, with six months on the job, responded to a fire in an apartment building on I Street in Northeast.

Upon entering the apartment, Saunders heard a woman cough. He carried her outside and she was taken to the hospital.
