HOUSTON — Firefighters were in trouble inside and outside of a burning apartment building in Houston on Monday afternoon, according to Click2Houston.com.

Firefighters responded to a fire in the 8200 block of Broadway Street at approximately 5:50 p.m.

A firefighter was at the rear of a chief’s vehicle donning his SCBA when a fire engine moved forward pinning him between the vehicles.

The firefighter yelled for help and other firefighters came to his assistance.  The department SUV was moved forward and it was noticed that the fire engine was still moving forward.

The firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital.

Assistant Chief Michael Mire told Click2Houston that it appeared the parking brake may not have been set or that there was some type of system failure.

Two maydays were transmitted during the fire for firefighters that became separated from their crews.

No occupants were injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
