Hanover (VA) 7-Year-Old Battling Cancer Becomes Firefighter for a Day

Hanover Fire Department made a wish come true for a 7-year-old, making him a firefighter for a day.

Javi Guzman has wanted to become a firefighter for as long as he can remember, his parents said.

Hanover Fire Chief Jethro Piland told WUSA9, when the Make a Wish Foundation reached out about making Javi a firefighter for a day, it was one of the easiest decisions he’s ever made.

Javi, whose blood cancer is in remission, was inspiration to the department, the chief said, and they were pleased and honored to share their profession with him.
