GREEN BAY, Wisconsin – A Green Bay firefighter was assaulted by the very person he was trying to help, according to NBC 26.

A Green Bay Metro Fire Department lieutenant saw a person in the intersection of Broadway and Dousman streets on Wednesday. Out of concern for his safety the lieutenant approached the man and tried to convince him to move onto the sidewalk.

A fire department report said the man was not cooperative and became agitated. The lieutenant called for the police to help while trying to convince the man to get out of the way of traffic.

That is when the man suddenly lunged at the lieutenant and hit him several times.
