Gaffney City (SC) Firefighters Extricate 14-Year-Old From 40-Foot Fall into Well

Gaffney City Fire Department firefighters rescued a 14-year-old boy Saturday evening who fell 40 feet into a well.

The fire department said firefighters responded to the scene off Pacolet Highway around 8 p.m.

The teen was able to tread water and keep afloat by holding onto the pipe in the well. A firefighter was lowered into the well and the teen was extricated in about a half hour.

No one was injured in the incident.
