May 14—Four people died in a three-vehicle crash on Columbia Road near Orangeburg on Tuesday morning, according to Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at 7:46 a.m. between Waterspring Road and Twista Drive. That’s about four miles north of Orangeburg.
A 2022 Audi Q5 was traveling north on Columbia Road when it struck a southbound 2022 Nissan Murano, Glover said.
A 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck that was traveling south then struck the Nissan.
The Chevrolet’s driver was the only person in the truck and wasn’t injured.
The Nissan and Audi each had two occupants. All four died at the scene, Glover said.
One of the vehicles caught fire and burned.
Detours were set up for most of the day on Tuesday.
A section of Columbia Road was closed for several hours but reopened just before 4 p.m.
