JACKSONVILLE, Florida — The young girl who was struck by a fire engine after a dog scared her off the sidewalk and into the street has now died, according to WJXT.

An investigation is underway after the freak accident occurred on Saturday.

A neighbor’s surveillance video captures the moment that two girls run out into the street after a fire engine leaves Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Station 31.

Firefighters immediately began helping the girl after she was struck.

A spokesperson declined to comment stating that the accident is an active Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigation.
