Florida Department Mourns Loss of Firefighter, Marine

MARION COUNTY, Florida — The Marion County Fire Rescue department is mourning the loss of one of its firefighters this week.

In a Facebook post Fire Chief James Banta announced the death of Firefighter/EMT Emilio Rivera on Tuesday.

The cause of Firefighter/EMT Rivera’s death was not released.

Rivera was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had been assigned to Friendship Fire Station 21, Operations Station 33, and Villages of Marion Station 10.

Chief Banta said that Rivera was with the department for over five years and was loved and respected by all for his drive, determination, and work ethic.
